PSA-BARMM Visits Selected Key Establishments in BARMM Region

PSA BARMM conducted a field visit to the selected key establishments and areas of economic development in Bangsamoro Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao from 28 to 29 April 2022.

OIC-Regional Director Engr. Akan G. Tula headed the visitation together with other RSSO staff namely Ms. Melanie Mohammad, Information Officer 1, Mr. Nurosalam C. Caludtiag, Statistical Analyst, and Ms. Sittie Hapsa D. Maganaka, Assistant Statistician.  Ms. Mokendi A. Calid, OIC-Provincial Statistics Officer, and Ms. Marrifie Ayob, Statistical Analyst of PSA Maguindanao also joined the field visit on the second day as it is one of their key respondents in other surveys. The field visit was participated by the Assistant National Statistician (ANS), Officer-in-Charge of the National Censuses Services, Florante C. Varona, and Mr. Jomar S. Garachico, Statistical Specialist II of Production  Accounts Division from PSA Central Office.  

The first visit was conducted in Lamsan Incorporated, the foremost corn wet milling company at Sultan Kudarat Maguindanao, where Ms. Luche S. Pena, Senior Director of Administration, and its staff gave the PSA guest a short review of the company’s history and mandates.

Also, on the second day of the field visit, with the courtesy to the office of the mayor, Mr. Suharto Ahmad, Municipal Administrator of Buluan guided the team to the fish landing center and proceeded to Agumil Philippines, a palm oil mill in Buluan Maguindanao, where Mr. Dean Abel Juno R. Payan presented the processes and products of their company. 

Moreover, the conduct of a field visit to the selected key establishments for areas of Economic Development is to convince data producers of the importance of national accounts and to improve the parameters needed for the general revision and rebasing of the Philippine System of National Accounts (PSNA). The activity was in line with the successful News Conference on the 2021 Report on the Regional Economic Performance of the region. The region has successfully surpassed the pandemic level with a 7.5% growth rate.
