PSA-BARMM conducts 2nd Level Training on Processing of Geo-Tagged Buildings, Updating of Digitized Maps, and EA Delineation for the Development of EARF for 2020 CPH

The 2nd Level Training on Processing of Geo-Tagged Buildings, Updating of Digitized Maps, and EA Delineation for the Development of EARF for 2020 CPH has been successfully conducted on 1 - 13 of July 2019 at EM Manor Hotel, Cotabato City. A total of 72 participants composed of OIC-Regional Director Razulden A. Mangelen, Chief-SOCD Mahmur H. Sarail, Provincial Statistics Officers (PSOs), Provincial Focal Persons, Regional Mapping Clerk, Map Data Processors (MDPs), Map Data Reviewers (MDRs), Map Data Verifiers (MDVs) and RSSO staff attended this training. 

Geotagging is the process of creating vector data by marking building structures in the selected areas as points in the digitized maps.  Along with the creation of points for building structures, the association or attribution of geographical information to these points, which includes addresses of buildings, building type, and pictures, among others, is also done simultaneously as the Map Data Collector (MDC) marks the identified building structures.

The main purpose of conducting this activity is to identify and mark building structures as points in the digitized maps and to attribute these buildings with pertinent geographical information for use in various statistical undertaking of the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA).

This was facilitated by Mr. Ongkili A. Mohammad, Information Systems Analyst of RSSO and also the Regional Focal Person of Geotagging, Mr. Mustaqeem Shaheed B. Dandon, Statistical Analyst of PSA – Sulu and Mr. Nicanor C. Pableo, Administrative Officer I of PSA - Basilan, together with Mr. Nelson C. Lagniton, Information Systems Analyst II and Mr. Amador A. Trazo, Information Technology Officer II as representatives from PSA Central Office.

The training was divided into 3 parts. The first part was dated on 1 - 4 July 2019 and the participants are MDPs and MDRs. The second part was dated on 5 – 10 July 2019 and the participants are MDPs only. The last part was dated on 11 – 13 July 2019 and the participants are MDPs, MDVs and PSOs.
