PSA-ARMM conducts Training on the 2017 Annual Survey of Philippine Business and Industry (ASPBI) / 2017 Survey on Information and Communication Technology (SICT) Data Processing
The 2nd Level Training on 2017 Annual Survey of Philippine Business and Industry (ASPBI) / 2017 Survey on Information and Communication Technology (SICT) Data Processing of PSA-ARMM was successfully conducted on June 19-21, 2018 at the Conference Room of PSA-ARMM Regional Office, Cotabato City. A total of ten (10) participants attended composed of focal persons from PSA-ARMM provincial offices and RSSO staffs. Ms. Soraya De Guzman and Ms. Blanca Niña Yabut were the trainers and representatives from Central Office.
This training is designed to provide comprehensive and standard procedures in the processing of data at the Provincial Statistical Offices (PSOs). This will serve as a guide for field office personnel to carry out data processing uniformly and correctly. Data processing for 2017 ASPBI and 2017 SICT consists of manual and machine processing of accomplished questionnaires to ensure the acceptability and reliability of estimates generated. Machine processing is the subsequent activity following manual processing of accomplished questionnaires undertaken by the field offices and the subject matter divisions. An online system designed and developed by the Systems Development Division (SDD) staff known as “Establishment Data Management System (EDMS)” is being utilized to facilitate the data processing of accomplished questionnaires. The system was first used for 2013 ASPBI and 2013 SICT operations. The PSOs are responsible for the data entry, data validation and encoding of updates, while the Central Office (CO) for the completeness check, evaluation and analysis of data, and generation of statistical tables.
Ms. Soraya C. De Guzman, Supervising Statistical Specialist of Services Statistics Division of the PSA Central Office, presented Chapters 1 and 3 of the manual of 2017 ASPBI and 2017 SICT Data Processing on the first and second days of the training, respectively. On the other hand, Ms. Blanca Niña A. Yabut, Statistical Specialist II of the Industry Statistics Division of the PSA Central Office, presented Chapters 2 and 4 on the first and third days of the training, respectively. Workshop was done on second day of the training and presentation of the workshop output was conducted on the third day. Distribution of certificates to the trainers and participants was done during the Closing program.
