PSA-ARMM, PSA-IX conduct 2nd Level Training on Data Review and Validation, and Analysis of Livestock and Poultry Statistics with Electronic Data Review Workbook (EDRW) Compilation System Application
The 2nd Level Training on Data Review and Validation, and Analysis of Livestock and Poultry Statistics with Electronic Data Review Workbook (EDRW) Compilation System Application was successfully conducted by PSA-ARMM and PSA-IX last June 19-22, 2018 at LM Metro Hotel, Zamboanga City. A total of 28 participants came from the two regions, composed of OIC-Regional Director of PSA-ARMM Razulden A. Mangelen, Regional Director of PSA-Region IX Mewchun WS. Pamaran, regional and provincial focal persons, and RSSO staffs, attended this training. It was headed by Ms. Marilou A. Gorospe and Mr. George B. Serilla, the Regional Focal Persons of PSA-ARMM and Region IX, respectively. They were also accompanied by the resource persons from the Central Office, Ms. Renee Louisse A. Ulep and Mr. Aris S. Lapitan.
The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) is mandated to produce quality general-purpose statistics on diverse fields like agriculture and fisheries, industry and services, social statistics, among others. These information are backed-up with different data collection activities, data processing, estimation techniques, series of data review before they are released as official statistics.
One of the stages in the generation of official statistics is the data review process. The data review process is a system of quality control (QC) that has been institutionalized into the PSA Data System to ensure highest quality of the generated survey estimates especially the agricultural statistics.
The main objective of conducting the data review is to come up with quality generated statistics on animal production, inventory and slaughter. Specifically, it aims to present the dynamics of the livestock and poultry commodities through the use of the Supply and Disposition (S-D) technique. The Electronic Data Review Workbooks (EDRW Compilation System supports the generation of estimates through the S-D technique.
On the first day of the training, Ms. Ulep presented the updates of the L&P questionnaires and processing systems before discussing the introduction of the training. It was followed by Mr. Lapitan who discussed the general workflow of data review and duties and responsibilities of field office personnel. On the other hand, Ms. Gorospe discussed the supply disposition tables, followed by Mr. Serilla who discussed the accomplishing of supply-distribution tables of livestock and poultry.
The trainers gave workshop activities to the participants on the following day. After the presentation, Ms. Ulep discussed the data review and validation techniques.
Mr. Serilla continued the discussion on the third day. After that, Ms. Ulep presented the data analysis and followed by Ms. Gorospe who discussed the EDRW Compilation Workshop. Another workshop activity was given to the participants.
The participants presented their final output on the given workshop during the last day of the activity. Selected participants were given a chance to share their impressions about the training.
The training was formally closed by RD Pamaran as she gave her closing remarks.
