PSA-ARMM facilitates 2nd Level Training for 2018 Geotagging and Introduction to ArcGIS Collector
The 2nd Level Training on Procedures for 2018 Geotagging and Introduction to ARC-GIS Collector has been successfully conducted on March 08 to 12, 2018 at the Conference Room, PSA-ARMM Regional Office, Cotabato City.
Geotagging is the process of creating vector data by marking building structures in the selected areas as points in the digitized maps. Along with the creation of points for building structures, the association or attribution of geographical information to these points, which includes addresses of buildings, building type, and pictures, among others, is also done simultaneously as the Map Data Collector (MDC) marks the identified building structures.
The main purpose of conducting this activity is to identify and mark building structures as points in the digitized maps and to attribute these buildings with pertinent geographical information for use in various statistical undertaking of the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA).
Mr. Ongkili A. Mohammad, Information Systems Analyst I of PSA-ARMM discussed the status of the tablet-aided geotagging of building structures of ARMM and the allocation of the tablets in the previous year. There were issues and concerns raised by the participants that were temporarily resolved. For this year’s manual, Mr. Mohammad presented Chapters 1 to 5 (Introduction, Duties and Responsibilities, Concepts and Definition, Software and Hardware Requirements and Familiarization of Android Tablet) and Chapters 7 to 10 (Screening of Information on Building Structures, Reporting and Submission and Administrative Matters). Mr. Abdullatip B. Ibrahim, Statistical Analyst of PSA-Tawi-Tawi on the other hand, discussed Chapter 6 which mainly focused on the materials needed for geotagging and the creation of project.
