PSA-Tawi-Tawi hosts Training on SNA for Western Mindanao Cluster

Participants and Resource Persons of the Training on Basic National Accounts for PSOs of Regions ARMM, IX and XII.

Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) – Tawi-Tawi Provincial Office, headed by its Provincial Statistics Officer (PSO) Mr. Masil H. Mohammadsha, and PSA-ARMM OIC-Regional Director Mr. Razulden A. Mangelen, hosted the Cluster Training-Workshop on Basic National Accounts for Provincial Statistics Offices (PSOs) in ARMM, Region IX and Region XII last 19 to 21 November 201k8 at Beachside Inn Hotel and Restaurant, Bongao, Tawi-Tawi. This was conducted by the Production Accounts Division (PAD) under the Macroeconomic Accounts Service (MAS) of PSA Central Office. Mr. Florande S. Polistico, Division Chief; Ms. Cynthia P. Donato, Supervising Statistical Specialist; Ms. Faith Hyacinth M. Balisacan, Senior Statistical Specialist; Ms. Kristy Ann G. Meguiso, Statistical Specialist I; Mr. Jomar S. Garachico, Statistical Analyst; and Ms. Ann Pauline M. Genavia, Statistical Analyst of PAD, served as the Resource Persons during this training.  

About 55 participants from the PSA Field Offices of the said regions attended this training. Among these are OIC-RD Mangelen and RD Maqtahar L. Manulong of PSA-XII, together with the PSOs of all provinces in regions ARMM, IX and XII. 

The training was conducted to provide briefing on the concepts and definitions of the System of National Accounts (SNA), to include the scope and coverage, data and data sources, and the compilation processes; explain the importance and provide discussion on the policy uses and interpretation of the economic variables and indicators generated from the economic accounts; and emphasize the relevance of different data collection activities done in the field offices.
