Dr. Asaad attends 2018 BIMP-EAGA Strategic Planning Meeting in Brunei

Taghap, Regional Director of PSA-X; Mr. Ruben D. Abaro, Jr., OIC-Regional Director of PSA-XI; Atty. Maqtahar L. Manulon, Regional Director of PSA-XII; Ms. Rosalinda C. Apura, Regional Director of PSA-XIII; and Ms. Leni R. Rioflorido, Regional Director of PSA-IV-B represented PSA during the Brunei Darussalam-Indonesia-Malaysia-Philippines East ASEAN Growth Area (BIMP-EAGA) Strategic Planning Meeting for 2018 in Bandar Seri Begawan, Brunei last February 10 to 15, 2018.

This meeting was conducted to review and assess banner programs and projects enrolled under BIMP-EAGA Vision (BEV 2025); identify BIMP-EAGA target deliverables for 2018 by each Cluster and Working Group; come-up with doable work and operation plans for the identified priority programs and projects by each Cluster and Working Group; and discuss and finalize specific project proposals for funding endorsement to China, Northern Territory-Australia, and Japan.

PSA Team represented the Philippines in the Working Group on Statistics under the Trade and Investment Facilitation Cluster. The Philippines proposed a project on the development of core indicators system for BIMP-EAGA which covers the four countries involved in the Working Group on Statistics and Database under the said cluster. This project aims to monitor the progress of the four member-countries in following the development visions of each identified cluster in the BEV 2025. The core indicators, or those indicators common among the member-countries, and are aligned to the Sustainable Development Goals and ASEAN programs will be identified. These indicators shall be stored in a database and portal for data sharing within the BIMP-EAGA and shall be regularly generated and are accessible. This project is already submitted for consideration and based on the proposal, it is expected to be implemented on June 2018 to December 2019 with Philippines as the main proponent.
