PSA-ARMM celebrates 2018 Civil Registration Month

Dr. Abubakar S. Asaad delivers message during the Kick-Off Ceremony of the 2018 Civil Registration Month.

PSA-ARMM celebrated the 2018 Civil Registration Month (CRM) in February 2018, with the theme #napapanahongCRVS. The theme emphasizes the importance of civil registration in the production of quality and timely vital statistics for evidence-based decisions and policies of planners and other data users. Dr. Abubakar S. Asaad, Regional Director; Ms. Cayang M. Macud, Chief of Civil Registration and Administrative Support Division (CRASD); and other staff from the regional office of PSA-ARMM, initiated the month-long celebration of this event at the regional office.

Mr. Razulden A. Mangelen, Chief Statistical Specialist (CSS) of PSA-Maguindanao and Ms. Bai Susan Guiani-Dumama, President of the Association of Local Civil Registrars of Maguindanao and Cotabato City (ALCRMCC) headed the kick-off ceremony of the 2018 CRM last February 01, 2018 in Cotabato City. Municipal Civil Registrars (MCRs) of Maguindanao and Cotabato City and employees of PSA had a motorcade along the highway of Cotabato City, from the People’s Palace to Rebecca Buffet. Dr. Asaad also attended this event, with Ms. Macud, and other personnel from the regional office. He delivered a short message explaining the meaning of this year’s theme and the role of PSA and MCRs in this endeavor.

Mr. Delson Yusop, Registration Officer IV conducted two sessions of a one-day refresher training on Rules and Regulations Governing the Implementation of Republic Act No. 9048, last February 19 and 26, 2018 at PSA-ARMM Regional Office, Cotabato City. This was attended by the MCRs of Maguindanao and Cotabato City and selected personnel of PSA-ARMM and PSA-Maguindanao, under the supervision of Dr. Asaad, CRASD Chief Macud and CSS Mangelen. Mr. Yusop discussed the basic concepts and issues and concerns on RA 9048. The MCRs were also able to raise related cases, specifically those pertaining to Clerical/Typographical Error and Change of First Name.

PSA-ARMM culminated this month-long celebration during the simultaneous ceremonies conducted for the Closing of the 2018 CRM and Opening of the 2018 National Women’s Month held last March 05, 2018 at PSA-ARMM Regional Office, Cotabato City. This was headed by Dr. Asaad; CRASD Chief Macud; Mr. Naldo G. Pendaliday, the OIC of Statistical Operations and Coordination Division (SOCD), and CSS Mangelen.
